[10/12/08] CHI student receives prestigious sports scholarship

A slightly different kind of award has recently been received by Melanie Späth, postgraduate student in the Centre for Health Informatics: In recognition of her past performance and future potential as an athlete, Melanie, among 24 other Trinity students, has been awarded the Trinity Sports Scholarship.read more »

Mr. Conor Gaffney, a doctoral student in KDEG, has been awarded the Irish Software Association Student Medal for 'the most innovative and commercially viable software product or service'. The competition was of a very high standard with applicants from across the Irish university and higher education sector.read more »

[30/10/08] CHI project receives commendation at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2008

SOLAS received a commendation at the Irish Healthcare Awards 2008 in the category of Best Patient Education Project – Non-Pharmaceutical. A virtual community for children with chronic illness, Solas works to decrease the psycho-social effects of hospitalisation through providing a facility for communication, entertainment and creativity. read more »

[04/09/2008] KDEG represented at the Very Successful Young Entrepreneurs panel session of the REE Entrepreneurship Conference

Eleanor O'Neill, research assistant on KDEG's Pudecas project, was invited last month to be a member of the Very Successful Young Entrepreneurs panel session at the REE Entrepreneurship Conference in Belfast. Along with two Belfast based entrepreneurs, Eleanor was invited to speak about her experiences working on a university based commercialisation project. read more »

[18/06/2008] Dr Declan Dagger & the ADAPT Team win Enterprise Ireland Inaugural "One to Watch" Award

Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Jimmy Devins, today presented the inaugaral "One to Watch" award at the first Enterprise Ireland Applied Research Forum at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin.

Over 200 researchers who are currently developing commercial possibilities from their research attended today's forum to discuss how they can bring more ideas from the bench to the boardroom.

To recognise their work, Enterprise Ireland commissioned the 'One to Watch' award for the researcher whose commercialisation efforts are deemed to have the most business potential.read more »

[03-12-07] Call for Papers for Special Issue on Ontologies in Network and Services Management

Today the call for papers for a special issue on Ontologies in Network and Services Management in the Journal of Network and Systems (http://www.csee.umkc.edu/jnsm/) has been launched. The special issue (co-edited by KDEG's Declan O'Sullivan) aims to bring together work that can contribute to the current trend to employ ontologies in the practical engineering of network and service management systems. read more »

[21/11/07] Professor Jane Grimson Awarded O'Moore Medal

Prof Jane Grimson, Director of the Centre of Health Informatics, and founder of KDEG has been awarded the O’Moore Medal by the Health Informatics Society of Ireland (HISI). The HISI presented Prof Grimson, President of the society for the past eight years, with this honour in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of healthcare informatics with Ireland and throughout the world. read more »
