Bell Labs Ireland is seeking candidates for a funded PhD within its Semantic Data Access Program.
The successful candidate will participate in a new long-term project involving semantic access to telecommunications data and services. The project is focused on the modeling of, integration of and reasoning about heterogeneous data sources in a scalable and adaptive manner and will be based in Blanchardstown, near Dublin, Ireland.

The studentship will be based in the Alcatel-Lucent offices in Blanchardstown in Dublin, and the candidate will work within the Knowledge and Data Engineering Group (KDEG) in Trinity College Dublin. KDEG enjoys a world class reputation in Intelligent Systems and knowledge driven communication systems.

The successful candidate will have a first class or II.1 honours degree, or a Masters degree, in electrical engineering or computer science or related discipline and will be highly motivated.

The candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Experience in information/knowledge modelling (e.g. UML, Relational, Ontologies)
• Knowledge in database technology and database applications.
• OO Development languages and tools especially Java, Eclipse or NetBeans.
• Knowledge in semantic web, information integration and associated fields.

This post-graduate position is for FOUR year duration and includes payment of full academic fees and a tax exempt annual stipend of 18,000 Euro. Start date by September 2010.
